The Minister of Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has imposed a curfew on Bole township and its surrounding areas in the Savannah Region following escalating chieftaincy disputes.

The curfew, effective Wednesday, August 27, 2025, restricts movement from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am daily until further notice. According to the minister, the measure is necessary to safeguard lives and restore calm.

In a statement, the government urged chiefs, opinion leaders, and residents to exercise restraint and pursue peaceful resolutions to the disputes. The minister emphasized that the curfew was not meant to punish residents but to protect them from further conflict.

Strict regulations have also been introduced under the curfew. There is a total ban on the carrying of firearms, ammunition, and offensive weapons. Anyone found violating this directive will face arrest and prosecution. Additionally, the riding of two or more persons on a motorbike has been prohibited, as well as the wearing of war regalia.
