Boomplay and TikTok partnership
Boomplay, the leading music streaming and download platform in Africa, has announced a groundbreaking partnership with popular short videos brand, TikTok. The collaboration aims to promote African music on a global scale by facilitating cross-promotion of trending content on both platforms through mutual playlists and content discovery.
Under the partnership, Boomplay will host a playlist featuring TikTok’s trending sounds, while TikTok will feature Boomplay’s top songs on its discovery and sound pages. The playlists, named TikTokPicks and BoomplayPicks, will showcase the songs that have gained significant traction on both platforms each week, with TikTok’s list focusing on user-created content and highly engaging songs.
The vision behind this collaboration is to unite the music and creative worlds of artists and content creators on both platforms, fostering connections among fans and granting artists broader exposure. The partnership will enable the sharing and amplification of custom-curated playlists on both Boomplay and TikTok, providing an avenue to showcase African rhythm, dance, and storytelling to an even wider audience.
Paul Azumah-Ayitey, Public Relations Manager at Boomplay, expressed enthusiasm about expanding strategic partnerships with global brands, emphasizing their commitment to offering artists innovative channels to reach their target audience and promote their content. Azumah-Ayitey further added, “We are very excited to partner with TikTok, one of the largest and fastest growing platforms in the entertainment tech industry, with great creation properties perfectly suited to the music community.”
Boniswa Sidwaba, TikTok’s Head of Content Programming for Sub-Saharan Africa, highlighted the platform’s immense popularity in the region and the thriving community that uses TikTok to share their love for music, sports, comedy, trends, fashion, and the diverse culture of Africa. Sidwaba expressed optimism about the partnership with Boomplay, aiming to encourage the creative community to continue using African music as the soundtrack for exceptional content development while elevating African musicians onto the global stage.
Boomplay and TikTok anticipate a highly successful outcome from this collaboration, as they bring trending sounds to their ever-growing user bases. While many users already engage with content on both platforms in various ways, this partnership will enable creators and content owners to directly interact with their target audience in a more creative, fun, and meaningful manner, with a specific focus on African music.
