A New Hub for Bulgarians and Ghanaians alike.
The Bulgaria Cultural Centre opened its doors in Accra, offering a permanent gathering place for Bulgarians residing in Ghana and individuals from diverse nationalities. Situated on Kakramadu Road in Cantoments, the Centre provides a tranquil setting equipped with facilities designed to support both business activities and tourism.
The inaugural session celebrated Bulgarian hospitality and culture, drawing a diverse audience that included business professionals and corporate representatives. Guests were treated to a blend of savory Bulgarian delicacies, beverages, and music, featuring performances by Ghanaian musician Ken Carbonu alongside traditional Bulgarian melodies. The Centre boasts a restaurant offering a menu that features both Bulgarian and Ghanaian dishes, ensuring a rich culinary experience for visitors.
Mr. Nico van Staalduinen, Honorary Consul for Bulgaria in Ghana, highlighted the Centre’s ambiance, which mirrors the warm reception found in Bulgaria’s cities and restaurants.
“The Bulgarian culture is evident in our food and attire, making it an ideal destination for summer holidays,”
Beyond serving as a community hub for Bulgarians in Ghana, the Centre aims to cater to over 100 Ghanaian alumni of Bulgarian universities and current students. Plans include offering weekly Bulgarian language classes, hosting regular cultural events, and promoting business and tourism opportunities for Ghanaians interested in Bulgaria.
Future expansions are anticipated to include business incubator offices focusing on sectors such as agriculture, pharmaceuticals, IT, wine and spirits, and tourism, bridging opportunities between Bulgaria and Ghana. Ambassador Yanko Yordanov underscored the Centre’s significance as “a pivotal meeting point” in enhancing bilateral relations, reaffirming Bulgaria’s commitment to strengthening ties with Ghana.
