Suspects accused of using Q-NET scam to defraud victims seeking jobs in Ghana
The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested 29-year-old Cameroonian Bella Merie and 43 others for alleged internet fraud and human trafficking. The arrests took place on Monday, April 7, 2025, at a residence in Kenyasi Abrem, in the Ashanti Region.
According to a statement from Deputy Superintendent of Police Godwin Ahianyo, preliminary investigations revealed that Bella Merie collected a total of 4.5 million CFA Francs from victims. The group, made up of 32 males and 11 females aged between 22 and 38, had been lured into Ghana with promises of employment opportunities.
Police disclosed that the suspects used an internet scam method popularly known as “Q-NET” to deceive the victims. After their arrest, both the suspects and victims were handed over to the Ghana Immigration Service for necessary immigration processing and repatriation to Cameroon.
The Ghana Police Service reiterated its commitment to combating fraud and ensuring the safety and welfare of both citizens and foreign nationals in the country.
