Donations Support Kids Of August 6 Helicopter Crash Victims
The Children’s Support Fund, created to care for the children of victims from the August 6 helicopter crash, has received GHS 3,576,600.00 and US$20,000.00 in donations.
A statement from the Presidency on Friday, August 29, 2025, confirmed the latest contributions made between August 19 and August 28. The fund was established after the crash that killed eight officials, including Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah and Environment Minister Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed.
Contributors include both institutions and individuals. Ghana Airport Ltd, ARB Apex Bank PLC, STL Foundation, Olam Agric, Fidelity Bank Ghana, ADB Bank, GLICO General Insurance, and the National Insurance Commission were among the notable donors.
Private citizens also contributed, with names such as Kennedy Hedoe, Peter Adongo, Mensah Michael, Appaul Wiredu Lateef, Samuel Hodalor, and Dauda Iddi appearing on the donor list. The donations will be used to fund education, healthcare, and general welfare for the children.
Dr. Valerie Sawyerr, Senior Presidential Advisor and Fund Coordinator, assured that the Presidency will publish weekly updates to maintain transparency. Contributions can be made through Stanbic Bank Ghana in both GHS and USD accounts.
