At the Chengdu FISU World University Games, Chinese women’s table tennis player, He Zhuojia, experienced a rollercoaster of emotions as she redeemed herself after an initial setback, ultimately clinching China’s first table tennis gold medal for the women’s team.

He Zhuojia faced a challenging start, suffering a defeat in her first match of the women’s team table tennis final. However, this setback only ignited her determination to bounce back and contribute significantly to her team’s success. Meanwhile, her teammates, Qian Tianyi and Wang Xiaotong, put up commendable fights, turning the tables on their Japanese opponents after a 1-0 deficit. Amidst the nail-biting tension, He Zhuojia found herself in a make-or-break situation when Japanese player Idesawa Kyoka defeated Qian 3-2 in the fourth match. The fate of the Chinese team now rested solely on He’s shoulders.

Yet, in the face of immense pressure, He Zhuojia displayed unwavering courage as she swiftly seized the lead. Her gameplay was nothing short of extraordinary – limiting her opponent to a mere three points in the first game and securing an impressive 11-4 victory in the second. The energy in the stadium soared as the crowd rallied passionately behind their talented compatriot.

“The atmosphere was amazing and electric as He Zhuojia’s spirited play raised the atmosphere of the crowd,” the Chinese coach remarked, appreciating the impact she had on the enthusiastic audience. Despite facing a minor setback in the third set, He Zhuojia’s resolve remained unshaken. She gathered her focus and drew strength from the support of her teammates and the fervent fans. With unwavering determination, she continued her relentless pursuit of victory, eventually emerging as the triumphant hero, securing the gold medal for her team in front of the spirited home crowd.

This victory held profound meaning for He Zhuojia, who had recently completed her master’s degree in Sports at the Shanghai University of Sport. Her dedication to both her academic studies and her specialization in the study of pimples on the inside of a table tennis racket’s rubber added depth to her inspiring journey.
