Western Regional Minister Takes Action Against Wangkang Ceramics Company.

The Western Regional Minister, Joseph Nelson, has issued a one-week ultimatum to Wangkang Ceramics Company Limited, a Chinese firm, for polluting River Anankore in Sekondi-Takoradi. This follows multiple complaints from Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) and the Water Resources Commission (WRC) over the company’s repeated violations.

Minister Nelson emphasized that the company must immediately halt illegal activities, free the river from obstructions, and adopt proper waste management measures. Failure to comply will result in severe penalties.

Pollution of the water body through the company’s activities must cease henceforth,” he warned.

The firm has been ordered to report back within one week to confirm compliance. Residents and environmental activists have welcomed the decision, calling for stricter regulations on companies harming Ghana’s water bodies.
