The Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC) successfully hosted the 2025 edition of the Petroleum Fun Games (PetFun) at the Burma Camp Sports Complex in Accra last Saturday. 

Over 30 companies from across the country participated in the event, which aimed to promote healthy lifestyles and networking opportunities among industry professionals. The games featured various events, including football, sack race, lime and spoon, swimming, table tennis, and basketball.

The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) table tennis team dominated the pingpong category, winning the trophy with a 2-0 (11-5,11-8) victory over TFC in the finals. This win marks a significant progress for the team, which placed second in the previous edition. In football, Huss Petroleum defended their title with a penalty shootout win over Star Oil. Star Oil, however, excelled in other events, including volleyball and tug of war, showcasing their versatility and teamwork.

Several companies received awards for their outstanding performance. Ghana Gas Company was recognized as the Most Organized Company, while Star Oil took home the Best Performing Company and Overall Best Company awards.

Huss Petroleum’s David won the Golden Boot award in football. 

Other notable winners include:

– Volleyball Winners: Star Oil (Women’s 1st), NPA (Women’s 2nd), NPA (Men’s 1st), Star Oil (Men’s 2nd)

– Table Tennis Winners: NPA (1st), TFC (2nd), GOIL (3rd)

– Swimming Winners: GOIL (1st & 2nd), IBM (3rd)

The event also featured exclusive medical screening by the University of Ghana Medical Center for COMAC members. 

COMAC CEO Dr. Riverson Oppong in an interview praised the participants for exhibiting exemplary sportsmanship, saying, “The enthusiasm, teamwork, and dedication we have witnessed here today reflect the values that drive our industry forward.”

The COMAC-PetFun Games provides a platform for industry professionals to build relationships, promote wellness, and showcase their skills. As Dr. Oppong noted, “PETFUN has proven once again that beyond competition lies collaboration, and beyond the pump lies a stronger, healthier community of people powering Ghana’s economy.”
