Circuit Judge Strongly Warns Against the Multiple Selling of Land
A Presiding Judge of the Kwadaso Circuit Court has cautioned against the practice of multiple land sales, warning that offenders will face strict legal consequences. Jephthah Appau, serving as a relieving judge at the Asante Abuakwa Circuit Court, reaffirmed the judiciary’s resolve to curb the unlawful act.
The warning came during the trial of a 46-year-old farmer, Nana Kofi Adade, also known as Biney Solomon, who is accused of granting land without title. The judge stressed that such acts violate section 277 (2A) of the Lands Act 2020 and harm both land buyers and traditional authorities.
According to police reports, Adade allegedly resold a plot of land already purchased by Yaa Amankwah in 2001 for GHC 3,000. The same plot was later sold to Bernard Owusu Sarpong in 2023 for GHC 46,000 without a proper title.
The complainant discovered the plot cleared in April 2025, with her building materials and foundation—valued at over GHC 42,000—damaged. Police investigations revealed the land had been resold by Adade and an accomplice, who is currently at large.
Adade was arrested, charged, and remanded into custody. His plea was not taken, and he is scheduled to reappear before the Abuakwa Circuit Court on September 12 as investigations continue.
