The Ghana Cycling Federation has partnered with the Ghana Tourism Authority to promote sports tourism through the upcoming National cycling championship, “Tour Du Ghana”.
This was disclosed by the federation’s secretary general, Shaban Mohammed, during the official launch of the initiative on Thursday, 13th November, 2025 at the head office of the Ghana Olympic Committee.
According to Mohammed, the Ghana Tourism Authority, led by its Chief Executive Maame Efua Houadjeto, has pledged to support the event by presenting the Best Jersey to the deserving cyclist. This support is expected to boost the profile of the Tour Du Ghana and promote Ghana’s tourism industry.
“The event will showcase the country’s scenic landscapes, promote tourism, and highlight the economic benefits that come with hosting world-class sporting events,” Mohammed said.
The Tour Du Ghana is scheduled to take place from November 17th to 24th, with cyclists riding from Accra through to Volta Region, Eastern Region, and back to Accra for the climax. The event is expected to attract international attention, with over 100 cyclists from 12 international clubs participating.
Mohammed emphasized that the partnership with the Ghana Tourism Authority is a significant step towards developing cycling in Ghana “This is the right direction for Ghanaian sports, and we hope more companies come on board to help us stage a truly global event,” he said.
The Ghana Tourism Authority’s support through the Black Star Experience initiative is expected to contribute to the growth of Ghana’s sports tourism sector, which has seen significant investment in recent years.
