Asante Kotoko assistant coach David Ocloo has expressed confidence in his team’s preparedness for their highly anticipated clash against Hearts of Oak in the Democracy Cup.

The match, featuring Ghana’s two most illustrious football clubs, is scheduled for Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at the Accra Sports Stadium, with kickoff at 6 pm.

This encounter commemorates 30 years of democratic practice in Ghana, adding a layer of significance to the fixture.

Speaking at the pre-match conference, Ocloo emphasized Kotoko’s readiness to secure a third consecutive victory over Hearts of Oak.

“We accepted to participate in the Democracy Cup because it’s a laudable initiative. We got rid of a lot of players at the end of the season but we have capable players to compete against Hearts of Oak,” Ocloo stated.

He added, “Training was good and I think we are ready to silence Hearts of Oak. We’ve beaten them twice and we are ready to give them their third defeat against us.”

Asante Kotoko has indeed had the upper hand in recent encounters, recording back-to-back wins over Hearts of Oak during the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season.

In addition to the main event, the Democracy Cup will feature a match between parliamentarians and former Black Stars players, promising an entertaining day for football fans.

The stage is set for a thrilling encounter as Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak battle it out once more in what is sure to be a memorable celebration of Ghana’s democratic milestones.
