Judge Sets Firm Trial Date for Diddy Combs Amid Legal Team’s Delay Request

A U.S. District Judge, Arun Subramanian, has denied a request from Sean “Diddy” Combs to postpone his federal trial on charges of sex trafficking and racketeering. Jury selection is now set for May 5, with opening statements scheduled for May 12.

Combs’ legal team sought a two-month delay, citing the need for additional time to review evidence due to a new superseding indictment filed in early April. The request was rejected during an April 18 hearing, as Judge Subramanian called it an improper “fishing expedition” for more evidence.

The judge noted that Combs is represented by a team of at least four attorneys, providing ample resources and time for trial preparation. Additionally, Judge Subramanian ruled that government witnesses could testify under pseudonyms to maintain their privacy and declined to dismiss any charges.

Combs, aged 55, has entered a not guilty plea to five charges, including racketeering and sex trafficking. He has been detained without bail at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center following his September 2024 arrest.

Prosecutors allege that Combs leveraged his fame and industry influence over 20 years to intimidate and exploit women, employing tactics such as blackmail, physical violence, and orchestrating illicit encounters with sex workers.
