Sean “Diddy” Combs, currently awaiting trial on charges of sex trafficking and racketeering, has been accused of violating prison regulations by contacting potential witnesses through unapproved methods. Prosecutors allege that the music mogul used other inmates’ telephone accounts and three-way calls to speak with witnesses, potentially attempting to influence their testimony.
During a court hearing, prosecutors claimed that Diddy instructed his family to contact witnesses and monitored social media strategies to sway public opinion. They also presented evidence from a notebook found in his jail cell, which included alleged attempts to coordinate witness statements.
In response, Diddy’s defense argued that the materials seized from his cell were protected under attorney-client privilege. The presiding judge ordered the destruction of these materials but will later determine if any can be used at trial.
Diddy, who has pleaded not guilty to all charges, remains in custody, with bail repeatedly denied due to concerns of witness tampering. His legal team recently proposed a $50 million bail package, including house arrest and round-the-clock monitoring, but prosecutors insist he poses a significant risk to trial integrity.
Prosecutors further allege that Diddy orchestrated social media campaigns and paid witnesses to influence public perception. They also accused him of running a “relentless” scheme to contact witnesses, which included using other inmates’ phone accounts—a violation of prison rules.
Diddy faces serious charges stemming from allegations of orchestrating drug-fueled sexual events and numerous civil lawsuits alleging sexual assault and exploitation. He has vehemently denied all allegations, maintaining that all encounters were consensual.
