Combs Acquitted on Major Charges, Faces Up to 20 Years

A New York jury found Sean “Diddy” Combs guilty on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution on July 2, 2025, but acquitted him of racketeering and sex trafficking charges after a seven-week trial, as reported by Fox News. The verdict came after 14 hours of deliberation starting June 30.

Combs, arrested in September 2024, faced charges tied to allegations of running a criminal enterprise and forcing women into drug-fueled “freak-offs.” The jury cleared him of the most serious charges but convicted him on prostitution-related counts involving ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura and another woman, “Jane.” Each count carries up to 10 years in prison.

After the verdict, Combs’ defense team, showing confidence by calling no witnesses, sought his release on bail, citing his 10 months already served. Prosecutors, led by Maurene Comey, opposed bail, arguing flight risk and citing hotel footage of Combs assaulting Ventura. A bail hearing was set for later that day.

Combs’ family and supporters celebrated the acquittals outside court, with some referencing “freak-offs” with baby oil displays. Cassie’s lawyer, Doug Wigdor, expressed disappointment over the sex trafficking acquittal but noted the significant jail time Combs still faces. The trial drew 34 prosecution witnesses, including ex-girlfriends and former employees.

The mixed verdict has sparked debate, with some X users calling it a win for Combs’ defense, while others argue justice was not fully served. Combs, once a hip-hop mogul worth nearly a billion, awaits sentencing, which could shape his future and ongoing civil lawsuits.
