DVLA to Establish Six Global Offices to Tackle Fake Licenses

DVLA’s Global Expansion: Enhancing Licensing for Ghanaians Abroad

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has announced its plan to open six offices outside Ghana. This strategic move aims to address the prevalence of fake licenses used by Ghanaians living abroad. The announcement was made during the inauguration of a new state-of-the-art DVLA office in the Adentan Municipality on Wednesday, May 7, 2025.

The Adentan office promises 24-hour service delivery, providing comprehensive services, including driver licensing and vehicle registration. Speaking at the ceremony, DVLA CEO Julius Neequaye Kotey revealed that the initiative will commence with pilot offices in countries such as Germany and Canada.

Kotey stated, “The DVLA under my leadership, together with Foster Yeboah, is on the verge of opening six new stations outside Ghana to address licensing issues. We have already secured partnerships with embassies in Germany, UK, USA, Canada, Dubai, and South Africa for the pilot phase.”

Transport Minister Joseph Bukari Nikpe, who was the guest speaker at the event, emphasized the need for DVLA to enhance its service delivery. He reiterated the importance of ensuring that all vehicles are properly registered and roadworthy, thereby fulfilling the DVLA’s mandate.
