Nana Kumasah Krampah II, Omankrado of Gomoa Asempayin has been formally appointed as the Women Empowerment Advocate for Ghana by the Eurasia Afro Chamber of Commerce (EACC).
In a letter signed by Dr. Rohit Gupta, Global Chairman of the EACC, the chamber highlighted that the appointment is “under the framework of the United Nations Women’s Empowerment Principles (UN WEPs)” and recognises more than nineteen years of “transformative leadership in advancing gender equality, inclusive development, and women‑led economic empowerment across Ghana and the African continent.”
The EACC, which is ISO 9001:2015 certified and aligned with UN WEPs, said the role is a tribute to Nana Kumasah’s consistent commitment to elevating women’s participation in economic life, community leadership, and policy discourse.
As Executive Director of the Action on African Women Foundation (AAWF‑Ghana) and a signatory to the UN Global Compact Principles, Nana Kumasah has been a “rare bridge between heritage governance and contemporary global development practice.” His traditional jurisdiction spans thirteen towns and villages within the Gomoa Akyempim Traditional Area, and he oversees community‑driven development on over 4,000 acres. This unique position, the appointment letter notes, has enabled him to deliver “proven impact in poverty reduction, youth training, rural transformation, entrepreneurship promotion, and economic literacy,” aligning closely with Sustainable Development Goal 5 on gender equality.
In his new capacity, Nana Kumasah is entrusted to “champion gender‑responsive business practices and inclusive leadership frameworks,” as well as to “lead grassroots and institutional advocacy for women’s participation in governance, trade, and enterprise.” The EACC also expects him to “shape policy‑aligned, community‑rooted models for women’s economic empowerment across Africa” and to serve as a regional and international voice for the UN Women’s Empowerment Principles. To facilitate these duties, the chamber has requested that relevant national and international institutions grant him appropriate diplomatic recognition and protocol facilitation.
The appointment reflects the EACC’s broader commitment to advancing the United Nations’ development architecture through “principled leadership and systemic change.”
Dr. Gupta expressed confidence that Nana Kumasah’s stewardship “will significantly strengthen Africa’s contribution to global gender equality and inclusive growth.” The chamber concluded by asking the traditional leader to signify his acceptance of the appointment and the accompanying mandate.
