The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has assured the public that there will be no power outages despite an upcoming maintenance exercise by Eni Ghana and its partners. The maintenance on the FPSO John Agyekum Kufuor and related infrastructure is scheduled from September 12 to 18, 2024, and will temporarily reduce gas supply.

In a statement released on September 11, ECG confirmed that alternative fuel arrangements have been made to prevent any disruptions in power supply. “We do not anticipate power outages as a result of this exercise,” the company stated. ECG is closely monitoring the situation to minimize any potential impact on electricity distribution.

Although ECG reassured the public, they also noted that in the unlikely event of power generation issues, the public would be informed promptly. The government’s proactive steps are aimed at ensuring uninterrupted power during the maintenance period.

This announcement comes amid heightened concerns about power stability, but ECG’s efforts suggest that the maintenance will not lead to widespread outages.
