The 2024 National Scrabble Championship took place on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at the picturesque Wan-Shi Gardens in Accra. Edwin Boama delivered an impressive performance, winning 15 out of 16 events with a remarkable spread of +1002 (2W: 420-400).
This thrilling victory secured his position as the national champion, earning him the ultimate prize. The event, organized by the Scrabble Association of Ghana, served as a crucial stepping stone for the upcoming 2024 World Scrabble Championship, also to be held in Accra.
Attracting over 20 talented players from across the country, the competition showcased the best of Ghanaian Scrabble talent. Edwin Boama’s triumph was a testament to his dedication and skill.
“I’m overjoyed and humbled by this win,” Edwin exclaimed. “My strategy was to focus on each game, taking it one word at a time. I played with passion, persistence, and precision.” As the great Scrabble player, Nigel Richards, once said, ‘The key to success is to stay focused and adapt to the game’s dynamics.’ I’m thrilled to have made it work for me today.” He added.
Regarding the forthcoming WESPAC championship in Accra, Edwin expressed his optimism: “With this win, I’m more confident than ever in my abilities. As the host nation, we have a unique opportunity to shine on the global stage. I’m looking forward to competing against the world’s best and making Ghana proud.”
