Initiative prioritizes local miners and responsible development practices

Electrochem Ghana Limited has announced its commitment to establishing a community salt mine for local miners in the Ada East District before commencing its commercial salt mining operations. This announcement follows the Ada East District Assembly’s directive for existing miners to vacate Electrochem’s concession by December 31st to facilitate the company’s initiation.

In an interview with Citi News, Bernard Martei Korley, the Public Relations Officer of Electrochem Ghana Limited, emphasized the company’s dedication to responsible development and infrastructure improvements for the benefit of the Ada community. He highlighted Electrochem’s policy of prioritizing community salt mines before launching commercial ventures, citing similar practices in the Western corridor.

Mr. Korley explained that the company’s approach involves conducting a comprehensive topographical survey of the area to identify suitable locations for the community salt mine, water reservoirs, and future commercial plants. To facilitate this survey, he stressed the need for the temporary relocation of existing miners, underscoring the importance of this step in planning and responsible resource utilization.
