In commemoration of Menstrual Hygiene Day, Empower Playgrounds, a non-profit organization dedicated to transforming lives through education and community-driven projects, is joining forces with Ada East Education Office on Tuesday, 28th May, 2024 to promote menstrual hygiene awareness and support girls’ education.

Menstrual hygiene is a vital aspect of human life, and its management has significant impacts on the well-being, dignity, and productivity of individuals, particularly girls and women. Unfortunately, many girls in developing countries lack access to sanitary products, leading to absenteeism, health issues, and even dropout from school.

To address this challenge, Empower Playgrounds will distribute about 100 free reusable menstrual kits to students of Obani DA Basic School. These kits, designed to promote dignity and confidence, will enable girls to manage their menstrual cycles effectively, reducing absenteeism and dropout rates.

The event, led by Mrs. Peace Yeri (Education Specialist) and Mrs. Morgan O’Loughlin from Empower Playgrounds, will feature interactive sessions, discussions, and poetry recitals, aimed at breaking down cultural barriers and promoting menstrual hygiene awareness. Akuvi Aguedze (Poet/Author) and Madam Millicent, Girls’ Child Coordinator at Ada East Education Office, will also support the event.

Empower Playgrounds’ initiative is part of their Corporate Social Activities, focusing on empowering girls across various communities and schools. By promoting menstrual hygiene and education, the organization seeks to enhance the overall well-being of girls, enabling them to reach their full potential.
