On Friday, May 24, 2024, Missing Children Ghana, a dedicated nonprofit organization, commemorated International Missing Children’s Day with a fundraising event at the Marriott Hotel in Accra.
The CEO, Regina Asamoah, shared the organization’s vision for the “Safety For Children” project, a comprehensive initiative aimed at educating children and their teachers on safety measures to prevent child abductions.
The project targets four regions: Greater Accra, Central Region, Volta Region, and Eastern Region, with a focus on educating 5,000 school children and their teachers over a three-year period.
The selection of these regions was based on the prevalence of missing children cases, highlighting the urgent need for awareness and education.
According to Regina Asamoah, the project’s budget for the four regions is approximately 80,000 cedis, which will cover the costs of training manuals, educational materials, and logistics for conducting sessions in schools within the regions.
The organization’s goal is to decentralize their educational efforts, extending beyond Greater Accra to reach more children in need.
Regina Asamoah emphasized the importance of empowering children with knowledge to ensure their safety.
“Our children should be knowledgeable. We should keep them informed from a young age. That’s how we want to do it. The project’s objective is to make children well-informed and safe, regardless of their location.” She said.
The organization is seeking support from individuals, companies, and corporate organizations to achieve this noble goal.
“We encourage anyone to come on board, whether it’s supporting one city, two cities, or three cities. Every contribution counts for the safety of our children.” The CEO, Regina Asamoah appealed.
With the upcoming election, Missing Children Ghana is intensifying its efforts in the four targeted regions. However, the project is designed to run for three years, ensuring a sustained impact on the lives of thousands of children and their teachers.
“By supporting the “Safety For Children” project, we can collectively contribute to creating a safer environment for our children, empowering them with the knowledge and skills necessary to protect themselves from potential threats.”
