Gospel Star Seeks GHC20M in Damages from Nana Agradaa

Ghanaian gospel artiste Empress Gifty Adorye has filed a defamation lawsuit against Patricia Asiedua, known as Nana Agradaa, at the Tema High Court on May 20, 2025, seeking GHC20 million in damages for slander and libel. The suit, filed through her lawyers, Osei Aidoh Akpokavie and Co., accuses Agradaa of making defamatory statements that harmed Gifty’s reputation.

Court documents, shared by Gifty’s husband, Hopeson Adorye, outline four claims, including a request for a perpetual injunction to stop Agradaa, her agents, or associates from publishing similar defamatory content. Gifty also demands the removal of all videos and audios containing the offending remarks from Agradaa’s social media platforms, alongside legal costs and professional fees.

The lawsuit stems from Agradaa’s recent Facebook live videos and posts, where she allegedly made unprintable allegations against Gifty. Empress Gifty asserts that Agradaa’s remarks have caused significant reputational damage, particularly within Ghana’s gospel music community.
