Ghanaian musician Fameye has voiced his frustration with the lack of support from the local music industry, stating that some Ghanaians are not genuine in their criticism of his work. He compared his music to that of Nigerian artist Asake, highlighting that while they both blend local languages with English, Asake receives more recognition and support. Fameye expressed disappointment that despite his efforts, he doesn’t get the same level of acknowledgment in Ghana.

Fameye pointed out that his album, Songs of Peter, features a mix of English and Twi, with creative beats, similar to Asake’s style. However, he feels that some Ghanaians are quick to dismiss his work, even when foreign fans offer praise. He emphasized the importance of valuing and supporting local musicians for the growth of the industry.

He also noted that he receives more compliments and recognition when he travels abroad, compared to Ghana. Fameye believes that this lack of support from his home country is one of the reasons why many Ghanaian musicians struggle to achieve international success. Despite the challenges, he remains determined to continue his career and hopes for greater appreciation from his fellow Ghanaians.
