The Ghanaian cycling community is abuzz with excitement as Farrakhan Shaaban Mohammed and Foster Doevi, aka “Bullet,” prepare to participate in the National Cycling Road Championship on November 30, 2024. Both athletes, fresh from the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) Athlete Development Program in Cape Town, South Africa, are poised to bring their expertise and competitive edge to the championship.

Mohammed, from River Park Eastern Region Cycling Club, and Doevi, from Gladiators Cycling Club, have been instrumental in harnessing the support provided by the UCI program. They join an elite group of six Ghanaian athletes who have benefited from the program since 2014, including Anthony Boafo Boakye Dankwa, AbdulRazak Umar, Frank Awuku David Akuffo, Clementina Ayoung, and themselves.

The UCI program has equipped Mohammed and Doevi with advanced strategies to enhance athletes’ performance and readiness. Their participation is expected to elevate the competition, as they showcase their refined skills and techniques alongside other top cyclists. The event will feature renowned athletes, including 2023 national champion Michael Naaba, Prince Kudufia, Emmanuel Sesi, AbdulMajeed Sandah, and Erica Sedzro.

The championship promises to be a thrilling display of cycling prowess, with Mohammed and Doevi’s influence shaping the event into a benchmark for national championships. Their vision and expertise will spotlight local talent on a global scale, demonstrating Ghana’s growing presence in the world of cycling.
