A devastating fire broke out on the morning of Monday, November 18, at Atonsu Bokuro in the Asokwa Municipality of the Ashanti Region, claiming the life of a teenager and destroying numerous properties.
The blaze, which began around 8:30 a.m., engulfed nine rooms and caused extensive damage to personal belongings. Tragically, 17-year-old Jerry, who was reportedly asleep at the time, lost his life in one of the affected rooms.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) managed to control the fire, but their efforts were hindered by accessibility challenges. Asokwa Municipal Fire Commander Bernard Nyemi-Tei highlighted the difficulties faced by the rescue team in reaching the building quickly.
The body of the deceased has been transported to the morgue by the Ghana Police Service as investigations continue into the cause of the fire.
This incident underscores the importance of fire safety measures and accessible building designs to prevent such tragedies in the future.
