A United Airlines flight, Flight 2477, was diverted due to a biohazard incident that left crew and passengers vomiting and requesting masks. The flight, originally bound for Boston from Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport, had to make an emergency landing in Washington DC for a deep clean. The plane departed Houston at 9:30 a.m. and arrived in Washington around 1:30 p.m. local time.
The severity of the situation led the pilot to request the diversion after learning that both crew and passengers were unwell. A crew member said in an audio recording from the flight..
“I talked to the crew and it sounds like it’s quite bad back there. The crew is vomiting, and passengers all around are asking for masks,”
The cause of the biohazard remains unclear, and United Airlines is investigating the incident.
Upon landing, none of the 155 passengers or six crew members required medical attention. “The aircraft is currently undergoing a deep clean, and we are working to get customers on their way to Boston soon,” the airline stated. This incident highlights the importance of addressing health emergencies promptly during flights to ensure passenger safety.
