Suspect Swallowed Jewellery After High-End Heist

Florida detectives have successfully recovered four stolen diamond earrings worth nearly £600,000 ($770,000) from a suspected thief, two weeks after he swallowed the jewellery during his arrest.

Luxury Store Robbery and Dramatic Escape

The suspect posed as a potential buyer at a Tiffany & Co store in Orlando, claiming he was shopping on behalf of an Orlando Magic basketball player. After being escorted to a VIP viewing room, he grabbed the jewellery, forced his way out, and fled.

Police Chase and Arrest

Security footage helped authorities track the suspect’s vehicle, leading to a traffic stop in Washington County, nearly 340 miles away. Officers overheard him say, “I should have thrown them out the window,” and later, “Am I going to be charged with what is in my stomach?”

Recovery and Criminal Charges

After medical monitoring, police recovered the diamond earrings, confirming they matched the serial numbers of the stolen items. The suspect has since been transferred to Orange County Jail, facing charges of robbery with a mask and first-degree grand theft.
