Police Nab Four in Aflao Over MoMo Vendor’s Brutal Killing

The arrest of four suspects linked to the murder of Christopher Ahordo, a Mobile Money (MoMo) vendor, in Aflao, Volta Region. The incident, which occurred on April 28, 2025, at 6:15 p.m., involved five gunmen who fatally shot Ahordo near the Diamond Cement factory and fled with a bag of cash.

The Ghana Police Service, through a coordinated effort by the Regional Police Intelligence Department, SWAT Unit, and local group ‘ACTION NOW’, apprehended the suspects—Michael Sewornu, 34; Korku Agboada, 43; Atsu Agbagla, 36; and Utsuku Onyeso, 22, a Nigerian national—on May 10. They are currently in custody, assisting with investigations.

This arrest highlights the rising violence against MoMo vendors in Ghana, where mobile money transactions hit GHS 1.2 trillion in 2024, according to the Bank of Ghana. Aflao, a border town, has seen increased crime, often tied to cross-border activities, making such operations critical.
