The organizers of the Ghana Alma Mater Programme (GAMP), led by National Coordinator Togbe Dzidoah I, have successfully launched this year’s edition (Season 3) with a call to inclusiveness and unity.

This year’s initiative was launched on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, and will be held on the theme “Reimagining Stakeholders’ Roles in Education: Unleashing the Potential of Alumni.”

The programme is an annual national school support challenge that competitively mobilizes financial contributions from old students of all second-cycle schools in Ghana towards the development of their former schools. The programme is under the distinguished patronage of the Hon. Minister for Education and runs with the approval and support of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Ghana TVET Service, Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS-Ghana), and Association of Principals of Technical Institutes (APTI).

Addressing the participants, including students and other dignitaries, the Chairman for the occasion, Togbega Lo I, Paramount Chief of Wli Traditional Council, expressed gratitude to the organizers for their tremendous inputs in promoting development across second-cycle institutions. He also commended the organizers, stating that the programme falls in line with his developmental ideas.

“I am particularly honored because this initiative, which seems to engage old students in the development of our schools, speaks a lot, and it is very close to my heart since I am someone who champions development,” he said.

Togbega Lo I also stressed that the theme highlights the significance of unity and cohesion. He therefore urged both current and past students to support their various schools by donating through the GAMP platform.

“The theme is calling on all of us to look beyond the traditional way of funding or sponsoring our schools and bring all of us on board as individual students. We need to get involved, we need to support our schools. The schools have given us something, so as we have passed through the school, we need to give back, and this is the right platform,” he stressed.

Speaking on behalf of the Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Idrissu, Mr. Stephen Owusu, the Technical Advisor on Pre-Tertiary Education, emphasized the government’s support for the programme. According to him, the ministry would continue to extend the needed support to enhance its purpose.

Togbe Dzidoah I, the national coordinator of the programme expressed gratitude to the sector minister, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, for the unwavering support and commendation. He mentioned that without the final consent from the Education Ministry, the programme would not have been a success. Togbe Dzidoah I, also commended all past students for their support in the redevelopment of their various schools.

As part of the initiative, Kpando Technical Institute powered by the Old Students Association ‘KPANTOSA’ picked the top prize and retained the ultimate Trophy as National Champions (The Alma Mater School of the Year) for the 2024 Season of the Ghana Alma Mater Programme (GAMP). New Edubiase Senior High School and Kinbu Senior High Technical School both took home the Category B and C awards, respectively. They also received cash prizes.

In attendance were both current and past students and staff from Kpando Technical Institute, SLATECH, Kinbu Senior High Technical, New Edubiase Senior High School, and others.
