The Ghana Federation of American Football (GFAF), in collaboration with the Ghana Education Service (GES), is organizing its first-ever 10-day Coaching Clinic at the University of Ghana Rugby Stadium from Monday, 12th to 23rd May 2025.

This groundbreaking event brings together 16 regional Physical Education Coordinators from across the country. Also in attendance are the Vice President of the Federation, Mohammed Osman Nkosi, and top-level coaches and instructors from the United States—Prise Navarro Leone, Grimes David Michael, Thomas Ratcliff, and Chadwick Demond Louisville—along with representatives of the Federation.

The aim of the clinic is to introduce and train participants in the fundamentals of American Flag Football, a non-contact version of the sport that emphasizes teamwork, agility, and strategic play.

Speaking at the opening session, Mr. Mohammed Osman Nkosi, Vice President of GFAF, emphasized the importance of capacity building at the grassroots level. “We believe that by empowering our Physical Education Coordinators with the knowledge and skills in American Flag Football, we are laying a strong foundation for the sport’s development in Ghana,” We are grateful for the leadership and guidance of Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah. He said.

Madam Cynthia Wise, deputy National PE director praised the initiative and described it as timely and impactful. “This program gives us the tools to go back to our various regions and introduce something fresh and exciting to our students. Flag football is a safe, skill-based sport that promotes inclusivity, and I believe it will be well received in schools.”

In an interview, U.S. coach David Grimes expressed his gratitude to the Ghana Education Service for embracing the initiative. “I’m happy we’re doing this with the Ghana Education Service because sports and education go hand in hand. When we reach the grassroots, the interest in the sport will grow. There’s a lot of potential here, and every sport needs a solid base to thrive,” he said.
