Flight Sergeant Armah Nii Okai Mensah Alfred Collapsed During Parade, Succumbs to Illness

The Ghana Air Force is in mourning following the passing of one of its officers, Flight Sergeant (F/SGT) Armah Nii Okai Mensah Alfred, during the country’s 67th Independence Day celebration on March 6, 2024.

F/SGT Armah reportedly fainted during the parade and was quickly taken to the Eastern Regional Hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, his condition deteriorated, leading to his untimely death.

In a statement released on Thursday, March 7, 2024, the Air Force expressed deep sadness and extended condolences to the family of F/SGT Armah. Described as a hardworking, respectful, and professional airman, F/SGT Armah’s passing is a great loss to the Air Force.

The statement revealed that a delegation led by the Chief Staff Officer, Air Commodore Eric Yirenkyi, visited the deceased’s family to officially convey the news. The body of F/SGT Armah was later received at the Air Force Base in Accra.

“We convey our deepest sympathies to all, especially the deceased’s family, and we entreat all to respect the privacy of the family of the late Senior Non-Commissioned Officer during this difficult period. Funeral announcements will be communicated later,” the statement added.
