The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has confirmed the death of Lance Corporal Danso Michael in a tragic incident related to a land dispute at Millennium City, Kasoa. The altercation, which occurred on April 30, 2024, involved an alleged landguard, Benlord Ababio, who is currently in police custody.

In a press statement released on May 1, 2024, the GAF expressed regret over the incident, describing it as unprovoked. The soldier was attacked and killed at the Millennium City Police Station during a confrontation over a half-plot of land.

The GAF assured the public that a thorough investigation, in collaboration with the police, is underway. The statement also conveyed condolences to the family and associates of the deceased soldier.

The GAF condemned the attack and called for calm, urging citizens to resolve land disputes peacefully and lawfully. The statement reiterated the GAF’s commitment to maintaining law and order in communities.

Also, The Ministry of National Security has confirmed that Benlord Ababio, the suspect in the shooting incident resulting in the death of a soldier, is not affiliated with the Ministry. This statement came after the land dispute in Millennium City, with two other officers narrowly escaping death.

“The ministry wish to pot on record that the suspect, Benlord Ababio, who is currently in police custody, is not a stuff of the MInistry of National Security. The public is, therefore, urged to disregard any news item that portrays the suspect as a staff of the Ministry of National Security” the statement added.
