Warrant officer’s innovation enhances mobility with low fuel consumption.

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has unveiled a locally manufactured mini Jeep designed to facilitate transportation within military barracks. The Jeep, named GAMIJ (Ghana Army Mini Jeep), was crafted by Warrant Officer Class One, Awal Mohammed, a skilled driver within the GAF.

Priced at GHC60,000.00, the mini Jeep boasts low fuel consumption and was showcased during the West African Security Social Activity (WASSA). Awal Mohammed’s innovation is a modified version of the locally used tricycle, commonly known as “Aboboyaa.”

During the unveiling, authorities announced that each military unit would receive one of these mini Jeeps to support their operational activities and errands within the barracks. The introduction of GAMIJ aligns with the GAF’s commitment to utilizing locally made solutions, showcasing innovation, and contributing to the development of indigenous technology.

To demonstrate the functionality and performance of the GAMIJ, Vice Admiral Seth Amoama, the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Nii Dzasetse of La, and Major General Rtd Samuel Odotei, among others, tested the mini Jeep by riding on board during the event. The GAMIJ’s introduction reflects the military’s initiative to enhance mobility, reduce operational costs, and support local craftsmanship.
