Ministry Confirms Stable Aviation Fuel Supply
The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition dismissed claims of an Aviation Turbine Kerosene (ATK) fuel shortage on July 24, 2025, asserting sufficient stocks for aircraft operations. A recent delivery of 11,984 metric tonnes, with 4,583 metric tonnes discharged to Petroleum and Warehousing Services Limited (PWSL), bolsters reserves.
Maintenance on the ATK jetty pipeline, completed to ensure fuel security, was cited as a reason for temporary disruptions, not a shortage. The remaining consignment is being offloaded to Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) and Ridge Depots, with completion expected by midday July 25. Richmond Rockson, Ministry spokesperson, confirmed efficient processes.
Deputy Minister Richard Gyan-Mensah engaged stakeholders, including Ghana Airports Company Limited, to ensure coordination. The rebuttal counters Passion Air’s July 23 warning of disruptions at Kotoka International Airport, which cited a GCAA NOTAM. The Ministry urged stakeholders to ignore “false reports,” emphasizing stability.

The statement aligns with efforts to maintain Ghana’s aviation sector, handling 3.4 million passengers annually at KIA. The focus on fuel security supports growing regional flight demand.
