President Mahama to Airlift 5,000 Ghanaian Pilgrims for Hajj 2025
President John Dramani Mahama has announced plans to airlift 5,000 Ghanaian pilgrims to Mecca for Hajj 2025 pilgrimage.
Speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony for the Hajj Village on Friday, February 28, President Mahama emphasized the importance of meeting the payment deadline and ensuring all necessary arrangements are in place.
“This year, we intend to airlift exactly 5,000 pilgrims to the holy land, and the task force has announced March 13 as the deadline for payment,” he stated.
To ensure a smooth process, the government has secured a pre-financing arrangement with a local bank, covering deposits for accommodation, transport, and other essential facilities.
President Mahama also gave firm instructions to the Hajj task force to strictly adhere to the 5,000-pilgrim limit, preventing last-minute rushes and logistical issues.
“I’ve instructed the task force to cut off at exactly 5,000 and not go beyond that number. We don’t want a repeat of the previous situation where people rush with late payments and end up unable to travel,” he added.
With this structured approach, the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage is expected to run efficiently, ensuring a seamless experience for all Ghanaian pilgrims.
