The Ghana Hotels Association (GHA) is gearing up to celebrate its 50th anniversary in style. This was revealed by the President of the GHA, Dr. Edward Ackah-Nyamike Jnr., during the 1st Directors Forum held in Accra on Wednesday, February 26, 2025.
According to Dr. Ackah-Nyamike Jnr., the association was formed in 1975, and this milestone anniversary will be marked with a series of events and activities across the country.
To kick off the celebrations, a health walk will be held in the Volta Region in April, followed by the unveiling of the anniversary cloth and a media launch in Accra in July. In October, a symposium will be held in Cape Coast to discuss the theme “50 Years of Impacting the Hotel Industry and Contributing to the Development of Ghana’s Economy.”
The GHA has formed a special committee to oversee the anniversary celebrations, which will include honorary awards to recognize individuals and institutions that have contributed significantly to the association over the years. The awards ceremony will be held in Accra in January 2026.
To support the anniversary celebrations, a levy has been implemented on member hotels, with contributions ranging from GH¢5,000 for 5-star hotels to GH¢500 for budget hotels.
