Ghana’s senior national table tennis team has departed for Tunisia to participate in the 2025 ITTF Africa Championship. The team is comprised of talented players who will represent Ghana in the men’s and women’s categories.
The men’s team includes James Marfo and Ernest Mawutor, while the women’s team features Cynthia Kwabi, Joanita Borteye, Eva Adom Amankwa, and Bernice Borquaye.
Ghana qualified for the Africa Championships through their exceptional performances at the ITTF West Africa Championships held in Lagos in July 2025.
James Marfo, who was part of the doubles team (with Emmanuel Commey) won Ghana’s first ever bronze medal at the 2025 World Table Tennis (WTT) event in Lagos, and Ernest Mawutor also selected by the Africa Table Tennis Federation to compete in the Championships.
The Ghanaian team will compete in the championship, which serves as a qualifier for the 2026 World Table Tennis Championships in London. The team is determined to book their qualifications to the mondial in both men’s singles and women’s team events.
The 2025 ITTF Africa Championship will take place from October 12 to 19, 2025, in Tunis, Tunisia. The tournament will feature top players from Africa.
With Eva Ampah as the team lead and head coach, the team is confident of making a strong impression on the continental stage.
In an interview she briefly stated, “Ghana’s table tennis team is well-prepared and determined to make a strong impression in the tournament”.
