Celebrated media and brands icon, Kwasi Kyei Darkwa, popularly known as KKD, has voiced concerns about Ghana’s leadership, highlighting a lack of mental resources. In an interview with Joy News, KKD stated,
“I see a Ghana of vast natural resources but very limited mental resources in those who are entrusted with authority and with those who are clothed with power to lead.”
KKD’s remarks emphasised his frustration with the current state of governance, despite Ghana’s abundance of natural resources. He stressed on the fact that while Ghana has talented and creative people, opportunities are scarce, pushing the youth to seek labor jobs in Western countries. “When I look at Ghana today, I see a lot of talented youth who other countries will use to do the work of laborers,” he noted.
He also criticized the economic conditions, citing the high cost of living and the devaluation of the cedi. KKD pointed out that many Ghanaians who work abroad and earn foreign currency are fortunate, but questioned the plight of those who remain in Ghana. He stressed the need for competent leadership to create opportunities and improve the country’s socio-economic conditions.
