Launch Event to Unveil 25th Anniversary Celebrations.
The Ghana Music Awards is preparing to announce its sponsor for the 25th anniversary on Thursday, March 28. This occasion will also serve as the launch of the 25th anniversary of the awards ceremony at the Accra International Conference Centre. The call for nominations started on January 29 this year, inviting industry stakeholders to submit their works from January 1, 2023, to December 31, 2023.
Since its inception in 2000, the Ghana Music Awards Festival has evolved into the most significant and prestigious event in the Ghanaian entertainment industry. The awards scheme has been the cornerstone of the music industry for 24 years, celebrating the music, the people, and the culture of Ghana. The goal is simple: to identify, recognize, and reward exceptional achievements in the music industry. The scheme comprises an Academy of DJs, presenters, producers, and others, a board of industry experts, and the general public.
The announcement of the nominees for the 25th anniversary is highly anticipated by music enthusiasts and industry insiders. Since the submission deadline, the board, research team, and the GMA secretariat have been rigorously reviewing the 2023 works. This process involves careful listening, reviews, and comprehensive analysis of data, lyrics, and production quality. The nominees represent the crème de la crème in various music categories in the industry.
In a departure from previous years where categories were unveiled hourly throughout the day, all categories for the 25th anniversary will be unveiled at the event. Answers to questions like who makes it to what category and which artist makes history will be revealed on Thursday, March 28.
