The Ghana Police Service has arrested 42 demonstrators from the Democracy Hub protest, which turned violent at the 37 Intersection in Accra on September 22, 2024. According to the police, the protestors were engaged in unlawful acts, including blocking traffic, damaging police property, and attacking officers on duty.

Among those arrested were several leaders of the group, with Oliver Barker-Vormawor, one of the key protest organizers, declared wanted for his role in the chaos. The police reported that Barker-Vormawor was seen tampering with a police vehicle during the confrontation and later confirmed his actions in a Facebook post.

The protest, part of a three-day demonstration against government policies, led to significant disruptions in Accra, including traffic jams and delayed emergency services. Despite police warnings and offers of alternative protest sites, the group persisted in occupying the 37 Intersection, leading to the eventual intervention by law enforcement.

The police have vowed to continue their search for Barker-Vormawor and other protestors who escaped arrest during the clashes, as they work to restore order and prosecute those involved in the violence.
