New Unit and Local Vehicles Enhance Police Operations


Hon. Muntaka Mubarak, Ghana’s Interior Minister, handed over 60 pickup vehicles and 20 motorbikes to the Ghana Police Service. The donation aims to strengthen security under the government’s 24-hour economy programme, enabling better protection for businesses and workers operating around the clock. The vehicles, assembled by Zonda Tec Ghana Limited, reflect the government’s commitment to supporting local industries while enhancing police logistics.

During the event, Mr. Mubarak announced the creation of a specialized police unit dedicated to securing the 24-hour economy. This unit will focus on safeguarding workers and businesses involved in extended-hour operations. The Minister highlighted that the initiative is part of broader efforts to improve police capacity and ensure public safety across Ghana.

Mr. Mubarak also visited Zonda Tec’s assembly plant, praising the company for its role in local vehicle production. Zonda Tec’s CEO, Madam Yang Yang, expressed pride in contributing to national security, emphasizing the potential of Ghana’s manufacturing sector to support critical institutions like the Police Service.

In addition, the Ministry of the Interior is digitalizing work permits and quota issuance to streamline business operations. Mr. Mubarak encouraged businesses to embrace the 24-hour economy but urged compliance with legal standards. He reaffirmed the Ministry’s dedication to protecting all citizens, ensuring a safe environment for economic growth.
