The Rent Control Department of Ghana has launched a digital platform to modernize public service delivery and improve access to rental services. The new system, unveiled at the Architectural and Engineering Services Limited (AESL) on September 12, 2024, allows landlords and tenants to manage disputes, register properties, and access services online. This initiative aligns with the government’s broader digital transformation agenda.
Dr. Prince Hamid Armah, the Deputy Minister for Works and Housing, hailed the platform as a significant step toward modernization. He recalled how, in 2020, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia vowed to digitize the Rent Control Department after witnessing long queues of Ghanaians waiting for essential services.
Developed by SuperTech Limited, the platform has already digitized 15 Rent Control offices across 11 regions, ensuring equitable access for all citizens. The system introduces digital tenancy agreements, automated property registration, and an easy-to-use online portal for landlords and tenants.
The digital transformation will ultimately extend to all 16 regions, marking a new era of accessibility and efficiency in Ghana’s rental housing sector.
