According to a report by Altezza Travel, Ghana is the 2nd safety Countries in Africa

Global tourism firm Altezza Travel has ranked Ghana as the second safest country in Africa for 2025, highlighting its impressively low crime rates. According to the report, Ghana’s crime rate is lower than that of Canada, Greece, and Australia, making it a highly recommended tourist destination.

The report commends Ghana’s improved safety landscape, crediting the Ghana Police Service’s enhanced community patrols. It also notes Ghana’s exceptional rankings in global peace and terrorism indexes. Ghana surpasses nations such as Moldova, France, China, and Jamaica on the Global Peace Index and has achieved a zero score on the Terrorism Index.

In Africa, Ghana stands out as a leader in safety, outperforming popular destinations like Kenya, Ethiopia, and Madagascar. The Numbeo Crime Index 2025 places Ghana among the top three African countries with the lowest crime rates, alongside Rwanda and Tunisia. However, the report also acknowledges that crime measurement varies based on how data is defined, reported, and collected.

Ghana’s judicial independence, multiparty democracy, and freedom of speech, including a free press, are additional factors enhancing its reputation as a safe destination. Despite challenges on the Human Development Index, Ghana continues to outperform most African nations in terms of safety and security.

This recognition affirms Ghana’s position as a premier tourism destination in Africa, combining safety, peace, and vibrant cultural experiences for travelers worldwide.
