The 2025 FESTAC Africa Renaissance festival, a landmark celebration of culture, creativity, and economic opportunity, scheduled from 21 to 27 September, at the Independence square, has received massive boost and backing from the Ghana Tourism Authority led by its Chief Executive Officer, Mrs. Maame Afua Houadjeto.
The festival in collaboration with FESTAC Africa secretariat, Ghana Tourism Authority and Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts is a celebration of Africa’s potential and a call to action to showcase the continent’s health innovations, elevate African women and youth, lead on climate action, and rewrite the African narrative.
According to Mr. Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey, Deputy CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority, speaking on behalf of the CEO, Mrs. Maame Afua Houadjeto, during the official launch on Thursday, disclosed that the festival is more than an event. He mentioned that it is the biggest Pan-African festival bringing together culture, commerce, and collaboration to drive sustainable development and create the largest trade market space during festival week.
“the festival, themed “Harnessing Health, Culture, Trade, Climate Change, Gender Equity, and Tourism for Sustainable Economic Growth,” aims to leverage culture as an engine for social and economic transformation. Today marks more than just a festival. It marks a Pan-African renaissance a bold statement to the world that Africa’s culture, creativity, and commerce are thriving, interconnected, and ready to power our shared future,” Mr. Aggrey added.
The Ghana Tourism Authority believes that the festival will unlock opportunities for small and medium-sized businesses, artisans, creators, and innovators across Africa to access new markets and form partnerships that last beyond the festival.
“This is how we turn culture into commerce. This is how we turn creativity into opportunity. This is how we build an Africa where tourism, trade, and technology drive inclusive growth.” Mr. Aggrey noted.
The Ghana Tourism Authority also urged Africans and friends of Africa to come and experience the continent’s rich culture and creativity. The 7-Day event will feature a range of activities, including conferences, exhibitions, sports tournaments, movie screenings, health screenings, cultural performances, fashion shows, culinary experiences, and a Youth Summit.
