The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) on Tuesday , 21st October, 2025 organized a successful and free breast cancer screening initiative for women, emphasizing the importance of early detection and prevention. The event held at the GTA’s head office in Accra, aimed to encourage women to prioritize their health and take advantage of free screening services.

The free exercise offered various health services and education, including breast cancer screening, blood pressure checks, eye screening, and other general services.

Addressing the participants, the Chief Executive of GTA, Maame Efua Houadjeto emphasized the critical role women play in their families and communities, stating, “Women, we need you. We cannot afford cancer to take you away from us. We cannot.” She urged women to take charge of their health, highlighting the importance of regular check-ups and screenings.

She also encouraged attendees to invite their friends and family members to regular check their status, saying, “Call a friend, call a sister, call a mother, call anybody you know, any woman, who would come and experience what you are experiencing today.”

The CEO also revealed plans outlined to support breast cancer victims across the country. She mentioned that both financial and motivational supports will be extended.

The also event highlighted the importance of community support and awareness in the fight against cancer by the Ghana Tourism Authority.
