The Ghana Tourism Authority has officially reopened the iconic Nationalism Park to the public ahead of the Christmas activities. The Park which was reopened on Thursday, 18th December, 2025 serves as more than a recreational space—it stands as a vivid reminder of Ghana’s collective memory, resilience, and identity. 

The GTA,s reopening is a strategic enhancement to the December in GH ecosystem and future tourism programming, strengthening Accra’s capacity to host large-scale cultural, entertainment, and heritage-driven activities.

Speaking on behalf of CEO Maame Efua Houadjeto, Deputy CEO (General Services) of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Mr. Ben Anane Nsiah, stated that “The Nationalism Park is not merely a physical space. It is a living symbol of Ghana’s identity, resilience, and shared memory,” underscoring the park’s role in narrating the nation’s past and guiding its future.

Mr. Nsiah highlighted the transformation of tourism into a strategic economic pillar. “Tourism, ladies and gentlemen, is no longer a soft sector. It is a strategic economic pillar‑driving jobs, attracting investment, strengthening cultural diplomacy, and projecting Ghana’s image to the world.” 

He explained that heritage spaces such as Nationalism Park are where history meets opportunity, turning culture into a catalyst for development.

According to him, the Ghana Tourism Authority is re‑engineering the sector to deliver measurable impact under the leadership of Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts.

“We are repositioning tourism to deliver measurable national impact,” the Deputy CEO affirmed, noting that the park’s reopening aligns with the Ministry’s vision to preserve heritage, activate national assets, and ensure tourism contributes meaningfully to inclusive growth and national development.

Mr. Nsiah again mentioned that tourism does not succeed in isolation. According to him, It thrives through shared responsibility, strategic partnerships, and disciplined execution. He expressed gratitude to traditional authorities, creative‑industry practitioners, security agencies, private‑sector partners, and community leaders for their collaboration.

The Nationalism Park which is closer to the Black Star Square and sports stadium sends a clear message that heritage and history matter and that nation‑building is a conscious responsibility.
