Ghana’s Black Stars face Comoros in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, having won their opening matches. Both teams have three points, with Madagascar also gaining their first. Ghana hoping to secure three points against the Comoros and take charge as leaders in the group didn’t happen.

Classic Ghanaians are pointing fingers and blaming the coach for the unpleasant outcome of the match against Comoros, leaving fans disappointed and questioning the coaching decisions made by Chris Hughton.

Chris Hughton made three changes to his team for the World Cup qualifying game against the Comoros. Denis Odoi, Kassim Nuhu Adams, and Andre Ayew respectively took the place of Daniel Amartey, Alidu Seidu, and Mohammed Kudus. Kudus was left on the bench due to a back injury, but Hughton decided to stick with Richard Ofori in the post. Gideon Mensah and Nicholas Opoku completed the back four, with Abdul Salis Samed and Baba Iddrisu trusted in the middle of the park. Jordan Ayew remained on the left flank, with Inaki Williams operating from the right. Captain Andre Ayew returned to the starting line-up for the first time in months and occupied the No. 10 role.

Comoros made a brighter start to the game, but Ghana carved the first real opening after six minutes. Youssouf attempted a strike from long range, but Ofori saved Selemani’s shot before tipping Bourhane’s goal-bound effort out for a corner. Ghana squandered one more chance to score when Williams found Jordan Ayew with a pin-point cross but couldn’t direct his header towards goal. Kudus was brought on in the second half, but Ghana struggled to create clear-cut chances. Comoros held on for a famous victory, moving to the top of Group I of the Africa World Cup qualifiers with six points.
