Ghana Health Service Announces Leadership Changes

As part of efforts to improve healthcare services, the Ghana Health Service (GHS) has announced a major reshuffle of regional health directors, effective April 14, 2025. The reassignment affects several top officials, including Samuel Kwabena Boakye-Boateng, who moves from the Upper East Region to the Policy, Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation Division at the GHS headquarters.

Other key changes include Dr. Kennedy T.C. Brightson’s appointment as Acting Director of Family Health, while Dr. Abdulai Abukari assumes the role of Director of Special Duties. Dr. Alberta Biritwum-Nyarko will now serve as the Central Regional Health Director, replacing her previous role at GHS headquarters.

The reshuffle aligns with GHS’s strategy to strengthen healthcare administration and service delivery across the country. Officials believe the move will enhance efficiency and policy implementation at both regional and national levels.

GHS has urged all affected directors to embrace their new roles with commitment, emphasizing that the changes are part of broader efforts to optimize Ghana’s health sector.
