Mr. Nathaniel Johnson, the esteemed President of the Ghana Karate-Do Federation (GKF), attended the 2025 Union Federation of African Karate (UFAK) elective congress held in Abuja, Nigeria, on July 23rd, 2025.
As the 4th vice president of UFAK Region 2, Mr. Johnson’s presence at the congress underscored the importance of reaffirming the karate spirit in Ghana and solidifying the country’s position within the African karate community.
The elective congress brought together executive leaders from various member federations, who gathered to cast their votes and elect their leaders for the next four years.
The UFAK elective congress is a significant event that shapes the future of karate in Africa. With representatives from across the continent in attendance, the congress provided a platform for member federations to come together and determine the direction of African karate. Mr. Johnson’s attendance highlighted Ghana’s commitment to the sport and its role in promoting karate development in Africa.
The elective congress resulted in the election of new leaders to helm the UFAK. Souleimane Gay of Senegal was elected as the President, while Bashir Cherif of Tunisia, Sayed Naser of Egypt, Sonny Pilay of South Africa, and Silas Agara of Niger were elected as the First, Second, Third, and Fourth Vice Presidents, respectively.
Bertin Dogmo of Cameroon was elected as the Secretary General, and Madani Bâ of Mali was elected as the General Treasurer. These newly elected leaders will steer the UFAK over the next four years, working to promote and develop karate in Africa.
As the 4th vice president of UFAK Region 2, Mr. Johnson will continue to play a vital role in promoting karate development in Africa. His leadership experience and expertise will undoubtedly contribute to the growth and success of the sport in the region.
