Government Denies Ordering Probe into Former President’s Travels
The Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has dismissed rumors that the Presidency has initiated an investigation into former President Nana Akufo-Addo.
In a post on Friday, March 28, 2025, Kwakye Ofosu categorically denied the claims, urging the public to disregard them.
For the avoidance of doubt, the Presidency has not given any order to the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) to look into President Akufo-Addo’s travels,” he stated.

Background of the Allegations
His remarks come in response to widespread reports suggesting that President John Mahama had allegedly directed the NIB to investigate Akufo-Addo’s official travels during his tenure. Accra-based Asaase Radio had reported that government officials framed the move as part of broader efforts to ensure accountability in the management of state resources.

Presidency Calls for Public Caution
However, Kwakye Ofosu insists these allegations are unfounded and part of misinformation efforts. He emphasized the government’s commitment to transparency and cautioned against spreading unverified claims. The Presidency has yet to issue an official statement beyond Kwakye Ofosu’s clarification.
